Medical Center of Aurora Gives Updates on Shooting Victims
During a briefing from the Aurora Medical Center, an official said they are “expecting a difficult day on the floors.” Dr. Bob Snyder, a trauma surgeon, said the patients they have right now are doing fairly well and last night there were no incidents that required emergency procedures.
Currently there are seven patients in the hospital. Of those seven, there are three patients on the trauma floor and four in the intensive care unit. Two of the patients in the ICU remain in critical condition but they are stable.
Dr. Snyder said that as the initial shock for both the families and patients begins to wear off, “today is the day that there’s going to be some realization that there is going to be some serious long term issues that people are going to have to deal with.”
He said the youngest patient they have is 16 years old and the oldest is 31 years old. The surgeon confirmed that some patients have multiple gunshot wounds and some of the injuries are going to be permanent.
