Shocking Video, Photos: Violent Storms Tear Through Northeast

Storms ripped through the Northeast Thursday night, as the entire region was pummeled by high winds and rain. Check out this video of a transformer exploding behind a house in Stony Point, NY. In New York City, there was unbelievable tower cam video of lightning striking trees all over.

Thousands of people in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut are getting ready for work in the dark this morning. Although crews were working throughout the night, one New York county remains in a state of emergency after a possible tornado hit the city of Elmira. Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared the emergency in Chemung County as teams from other parts of the state assist with power restoration.
