Power Grid Collapse Leaves More Than 600 Million Without Power in India
Another massive blackout has struck India, leaving more than 600 million people without power in the sweltering heat. This is the third grid collapse in two days.
Greg Palkot reports that the blackout is impacting everything from homes to government buildings to trains. Big chunks of power are being brought back, and much of it should be resolved before evening in India.
The cause of the blackouts appears to be an issue of supply and demand. The systems are overused and overloaded, and can’t keep up with the country’s population growth.
