Cal Ripken Jr. Pleads for Information on Mother’s Abductor, Says Mom Is Doing Okay After Ordeal
Police have released surveillance footage revealing the man they believe kidnapped Cal Ripken, Jr.’s mother at gunpoint from her Maryland home last week. Seventy-four-year-old Violet Ripken was found a day after her abduction, tied up in the backseat of a car.
Police are looking for information on the suspect, who they describe as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s.
Cal Ripken Jr. joined Fox and Friends this morning to plead for any information about the man in the surveillance video. Ripken said, “The reason I wanted to come on here to talk today is first and foremost to let everybody know that mom’s ok because everyone’s really worried about mom. Secondly is to help law enforcement.”
Ripken said that investigators aren’t sure whether the kidnapper targeted his mother specifically or if it was a random abduction. The kidnapper didn’t make any demands.
“Thank goodness, she’s back home, she’s safe, she’s unharmed. Psychologically, I think she’s a little harmed, but we’re just really happy we have her back,” Ripken said.
