VIDEO: Alisyn Camerota Gets a Lesson in Archery From Olympian Khatuna Lorig
Tonight at 10p/ 1a ET, Alisyn Camerota reports on a five-time Olympic archer who is competing for the U.S. in London. Khatuna Lorig also trained the star of the blockbuster film “The Hunger Games.” The success of the film has led to an explosion in the popularity of archery all across the country. Alisyn Camerota got a lesson in archery from Lorig and told us a little bit about her experience. I’m not the most athletic person around. (My friends would call that an understatement.) So, it’s highly unlikely that I would ever have occasion to be trained by an Olympic athlete ... for anything! But there I was in Chula Vista, California at the Olympic Training Center getting a lesson in archery by one of the world’s top archers, five-time Olympian, Khatuna Lorig.
Man, that bow is bigger than you’d think and pulling the string back with proper placement, just grazing my cheek, as Khatuna taught me, takes more strength than you’d guess. First, you have to figure out which eye is your dominant one, then you must practice the art of patience. Archery requires stillness and lots of patience. Take a look at a sneak peek clip of Alisyn's lesson in archery, but don't forget to watch Fox Files -- tonight at 10p/ 1a ET .
