A Look Back at Mary Lou Retton's Historic Olympic Wins
All week, The Five is taking a look back at some of the greatest accomplishments of American Olympians. One of those greats is gymnast Mary Lou Retton, who at age 16 during the 1984 Olympics won the gold medal and also became the first American to win the all-around title.
Today, Retton is a mom of four and lives in Fairmont, West Virginia. She became a motivational speaker, a fitness ambassador and has served on the President’s
Council on Fitness under both Bush administrations.
