Bestselling Book Creates 'Fifty Shades' of Business Opportunities Due to Growing 'Sexual Devices' Demand
It's the huge bestseller that made waves both in the U.S. and abroad, with almost 20 million copies sold domestically. While there's been an influx of speculation that the racy books could potentially have more people heading to stores to stock up on, er, sexy essentials, that speculation has now been put to rest. It's official.
After a recent dismal earnings report, a CEO at Church & Dwight CEO said on a company conference call that he sees an enormous $300 million category growing, made up of sexual devices, thanks largely due to EL James's 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'
While it may spawn a following in a quite different vein, 'Fifty Shades' isn't alone when it comes to books creating trends. Other the novels below that influenced retail and trends around the globe
include the 'Harry Potter' series and 'The Hunger Games.'
