Scott Rasmussen: Next 48 Hours Are Critical to Define VP Selection
Following the big VP announcement, Scott Rasmussen discussed some of the latest poll numbers from Rasmussenreports.com. "Paul Ryan is well-known to people inside the Beltway and to political junkies everywhere, but nationally, not so much," he said.
In a recent Rasmussen poll of likely voters, he pointed out that 39 percent have a favorable opinion of Ryan, 25 percent unfavorable, and 35 percent no opinion
(with margin of error being +/- 3 percent).
"7 out of 10 Republicans like him, which might help energize the base. 42 percent of unaffiliated voters have no idea who he is. These next 48-72 hours are going to be very critical to define the selection and what it says about the Romney campaign."
He went on to say, "Despite all the hoopla today about Paul Ryan, this race is still primarily about Barack Obama. His job approval this morning fell to 43 percent, the lowest level of the year."
