President Obama and First Lady Make Rare Joint Campaign Appearances in Iowa
DUBUQUE, Iowa - President Obama is bringing out a rare special guest on his final day of his three-day Iowa bus tour, having first lady Michelle Obama to stump with him at his two final events in the Hawkeye state.
While the first lady herself is out a couple times a week doing her own solo campaign events, it's an unusual occurrence for them to appear together.
In fact, it's been several months since she's spoken at a campaign event with him, the last time being at a star-studded fundraiser in New York City.
She did attend his official campaign weekend kick-off
back in May, when they formally launched the 2012 bid at rallies in Ohio and Virginia.
People magazine is also on site in Iowa and will be interviewing the first couple. Of course having the first lady present, who has a higher approval rating than the president, offers a softer image for the president who often offers tough rhetoric and attacks on his GOP rival Mitt Romney.
