Test Complete on Hypersonic Jet That Could Cross the Atlantic in an Hour
The Defense Department has completed tests on a hypersonic jet that could travel from London to New York in less than an hour. It’s being called the Wave Rider because it basically rides its own shock waves through the sky.
Samantha Murphy, a technology reporter for Mashable.com, joined America’s Newsroom to describe the testing saying that the jet’s engine pulls oxygen from the atmosphere to make it go even faster.

“I think that in the future, we might be able to see something like this roll out for consumer flight. And it would certainly change things … but they’re not there yet,” Murphy said.
