A Dozen Good Samaritans Rescue Woman and Disabled Sister From Burning SUV
More than a dozen people frantically worked to pull a woman and her disabled sister from a burning SUV. Passersby leapt from their vehicles, desperately flagging down truckers, trying to get water, hoses, and fire extinguishers as the flames inched closer and closer to the driver and her passenger.
Johnny Poulos with the Mississippi Highway Patrol described the scene, saying that the Good Samaritans were able to free the driver’s disabled sister from the backseat first because they had easier access to her. It was more difficult to free the driver because of the position of the fire and its proximity to her, but all the while the strangers reassured the panicking woman that they wouldn’t leave her to burn.
