Debate: Is the Left Reigniting the 'War on Women'?
Members of the Democratic Party are using Todd Akin’s offensive remarks to paint the entire GOP as anti-women. Tonight on The O’Reilly Factor, host for the night Laura Ingraham welcomed Fox News contributor Sally Kohn and Democratic strategist Tara Dowdell to debate the issue.
Kohn pointed out that while Republicans were quick to distance themselves from what Akin said, they doubled down on what he believes. Kohn’s asserted that the Republican platform would “Constitutionally ban all choice and take away all control women have over their own bodies
, including not having any exceptions for rape or incest.”
Ingraham argued that while the party is pro-life, Republicans do not eliminate all choice for women’s health care. Dowdell shot back, “The Republicans keep claiming that they want to have a serious conversation about the economy, but they’re talking about everything but. You have Donald Trump running around as a Romney surrogate talking about Obama’s birth certificate, […] Congressman Degraff saying that women should plan ahead for rape. This is a pattern of extremism that is turning women off.”
All could agree when it comes to the single women vote, President Obama has a big double-digit lead over Mitt Romney.
