Video: RNC Speech by Ted, Pat Oparowski Tells Story of Mitt Romney Helping Bring Peace to Their Dying Son
One of the notable speeches so far tonight at the Republican National Convention occurred when Ted and Pat Oparowski took the stage to talk about the Mitt Romney they knew during a time in their lives that no parent should ever have to go through - the death of a child.
When their teenage son was diagnosed with cancer back in the 1970s, Romney visited the boy repeatedly, at one point even helping him write his own will.
"How many men do you know would take the time out of their busy lives to visit a terminally ill 14-year-old and help him settle his affairs?" asked Pat Oparowski. She continued, saying, "[Our son] David also helped us plan his funeral. He wanted to be buried in his Boy Scout uniform. He wanted Mitt to pronounce his eulogy. Mitt was there to honor that request."
