Watch: Jeb Bush Goes Off Script During RNC Speech, Blasts Obama for Blaming George W. Bush for Failures
Jeb Bush went off-script at the start of his RNC speech Thursday night, paying tribute to the longstanding legacy of public service in his family, including that of his father, former President George H.W. Bush, and his brother, former President George W. Bush.
"Before I begin my remarks, I have something personal I'd like to share with you," the former governor began. He then discussed his love for his brother, calling him, "a man of integrity, courage and honor, and during incredibly challenging times he kept us safe."
He continued, saying, "So, Mr. President, it is time to stop blaming your predecessor for your failed economic policies. You were dealt a tough hand, but your policies have not worked. In the fourth year in your presidency, a real leader would accept responsibility for his actions, and you haven't done it."
