REPORT: Syrian Rebels Launch Assault on Government Security Compounds
As fighting continues across Syria, there are reports that the rebels have launched a major operation in the northern city of Aleppo, aiming to strike government security compounds and bases in that region.
FNC’s Leland Vittert reports that this latest offensive by the rebels shows that the government has been unable to stifle them. Over the past few days, President Bashar al-Assad has been using his heavy artillery to
directly target civilians, and activists are reporting that the death toll this week is up to 1,600.
Neighboring Turkey has asked the UN to set up safe zones for civilians, but it seems unlikely without the approval of Russia and China.
