Nickelodeon Responds to Jason Biggs’ Controversial Tweets
America Live welcomed Sam Bennett, the president and CEO of the Women’s Campaign Fund, to discuss last week’s controversial Twitter posts from actor Jason Biggs. Biggs, who currently voices an animated character on a Nickelodeon’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” made offensive and sexually explicit remarks about Ann Romney and Janna Ryan on the social media platform.
“Let’s have it in the national media that [this kind of degradation] is no longer acceptable,” says Bennett, adding that political and media outlets who stay silent on these types of issues will never deter them from happening again. As she later told Megyn, “The beautiful thing is, here you are — a very important national anchor — talking about it on national television. That’s what we need. And also, quite frankly, what Ann’s team and Janna’s team need to do is … respond.”
In addition, FoxNews.com recently posted Nickelodeon’s response to Biggs’ Twitter attacks, which reads:
“The offensive comments made by Jason Biggs last week on his personal Twitter account do not reflect our company’s views or values, and we condemn them. Nickelodeon does not support or condone the use of graphic or vulgar language on any of our platforms.
“It was our mistake to link from our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles twitter feed to Jason’s personal twitter account, and we quickly corrected our error. We also insisted Jason use better judgment and discretion in public communications while affiliated with our brand.”
