Exclusive: Bret Baier Previews Today’s Interview With Gov. Mitt Romney

Today at 11:30a ET, Bret Baier sits down with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for a LIVE interview from Sioux City, Iowa. Then, tune in tonight to Special Report at 6p ET, for more of the interview with Governor Romney and the Sioux City presidential campaign event. Bret Baier sent the Fox News Insider an exclusive preview of his interview airing today:

“We received word late yesterday that Governor Mitt Romney may be available in Souix City, Iowa to talk to Fox News Channel before his campaign event in the city. We said ‘Let’s make this happen.’ This is a big moment! It’s his first time he’ll share his reaction to the Democratic National Convention and the August jobs numbers report that was released this morning at 8.1%.

Of course we jumped at the chance to get an interview with the governor and we are en route to Sioux City from Charlotte, North Carolina, where we wrapped up coverage very early this morning at 1a ET.

We’re on our way to do the interview with Governor Romney that will be LIVE at 11:30a ET on Happening Now. After that, we will follow Romney to the presidential campaign event and get a chance to shoot some more tape of Governor Romney and the event attendees. We plan to talk to some folks on the ground and we will put it all together in Washington, D.C. and I will air during tonight’s Special Report at 6p ET.

This is a big moment in this election after these two back-to-back conventions have concluded. There is now 60 days until the presidential election. This is a full on sprint, so to have the Republican nominee respond directly the day after the DNC and on a jobs report day, is a big deal. We’re very happy to make it happen.

I don’t want to give the whole interview away, but I will say that I’m going to address the convention and a lot of the specific charges that numerous Democrats, including President Obama, made during DNC speeches in Charlotte, NC. We are also going to talk about the Romney/Ryan strategies for the upcoming election and how they plan to deploy it in the last 60 days.”
