'Fast and Furious' Update: Mexican Officials Arrest Suspect in Killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry
Mexican federal police say they have arrested a man in the killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. His name is Jesus Meza and he’s one of five men charged with killing Terry in 2010 during a shootout in Arizona near the Mexican border.
FNC’s Doug McKelway reports that two more are in custody at this time, and another suspect who was wounded in the 2010 shootout has been in custody since then. Three others remain at large.
In a statement, Brian Terry’s cousin, Robert Heyer, reacted to the arrest: “To the extent closure can ever be realized this an important part of the process. However, the key issue of government accountability remains. Why was the operation that killed Brian authorized and who will be held to account?”
Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee tomorrow, however, his testimony is contingent upon completion of his report on the gun-walking scandal.
