Update: Standoff Ends With Suspected Cop Killer Dead
A wild standoff that tore off the side of a house ended moments ago when police found the body of a suspected cop killer inside. At the scene in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a section of the house had been ripped off by machinery in an effort by police to get the suspect out. The standoff apparently started last night after Officer Patrick O’Rourke, a married father of four, responded to a 9-1-1 call about a man who had tried to kill himself.
Police say when O’Rourke and other officers climbed the stairs to the house, a man open fire from his bedroom
and killed O’Rourke. A barrage of bullets was reportedly fired when a standoff ensued. Police have confirmed that the man who killed their fellow officer is now dead. The suspect was the head of a financial company that’s in trouble with regulators and his wife also recently served him with divorce papers.
