Talking Points Memo: Do Most American Voters Really Understand What’s at Stake in the Presidential Election?
In tonight’s Talking Points Memo, Bill O’Reilly said that most American’s don’t understand what’s at stake in the upcoming election. He says it comes down to three vital issues: the economy, the Muslim world and gas prices.
In addition to unemployment and low wages, the debt crisis in this country is growing. “President Obama rolled the dice, believing that record government spending in peacetime would lead to job creation. No matter what the propagandists tell you, that has not happened,” said O’Reilly.
What does the United States have to show for the five trillion dollars in debt accrued under President Obama? O’Reilly predicted, “If the feds continue spending at this rate, the US dollar will collapse … we simply must stop the massive borrowing, now estimated at $3.5 billion dollars a day.”

Moving on to the second vital issue, O’Reilly says the president’s “soft power approach” in dealing with the Muslim world was worth a try. President Obama tried to sway the anti-American sentiment across the world, but it hasn’t worked. In the face of growing protests and violence, the Obama administration refuses to change course. Even the Libyan president pointed to the date, September 11th, as further evidence that the attacks on the US consulate were pre-planned.
Lastly, gas prices are through the roof but there is no coherent energy policy. O’Reilly surmised that President Obama is well intentioned in wanting alternative fuel, but his opposition to the fossil fuel industry has put working Americans in a bad place.
The O’Reilly Factor host feels strongly about these issues, so he will be teaming up with Jon Stewart in a debate that will be streamed online on October 6th. Plus, tune in Tuesday at 8p ET when Jon Stewart enters the No Spin Zone!
