Heated Debate on 'The Five': Initial Assumption By Admin That U.S. Deserved Libya Attack Is 'Disgusting, Shameful'
After U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News today that the administration knew within 24 hours of the Libya attack that terrorism was to blame, the co-hosts on 'The Five' got into an extra-heated debate over the topic. "I will bet you whatever you want to bet that there was nothing in any of these intelligence reports," Bob Beckel said, indicating initially that it was a terrorist attack. The back-and-forth intensified when Kimberly Guilfoyle fired back at Beckel, attacking the administration's initial insistence that an anti-Islam video was to blame for Libya riots. "The video was a scapegoat -- it was a rabbit and a red herring, so that the administration didn't have to take responsibility for this epic fail on their watch!" Beckel told her to "calm down," saying that it would have been close to impossible for intelligence officials to have known so quickly that terrorism was behind the attack. "But, somehow they were {C}
able to confirm that it was the video that caused the attack," Greg Gutfeld shot back, saying that there's an over-arching problem with the inconsistencies of the administration's revelations. "It raises the question: where does Obama get his intel? The Media Matters homepage? George Clooney's colorist?" He added, "The assumption was made rather quickly that it was a spontaneous attack, so from a philosophical it comes from the premise that we deserved it. It couldn't be an evil group of people that planned this. Somehow something that we did really pissed these people off, and that's what we accepted off the bat, and to me, that's disgusting and shameful."
