'I Don't Pray in Public': Democratic Lawmaker Refuses to Lead Pledge of Allegiance at House Meeting
Pennsylvania state lawmaker Babette Josephs (D) was caught on tape refusing to lead her fellow House members in the Pledge of Allegiance at a recent meeting. She can be heard telling her colleagues, "Thank you, I do not pledge the flag of the allegiance based on my First Amendment rights and the fact that I really think it's a prayer, and I don't pray in public."
After an awkward pause, she called on another lawmaker to lead the Pledge in her stead.
