MAP: Which States Are Affected By Meningitis Outbreak?
Word crossed our wires Friday afternoon that there are now four more confirmed cases in what's become a widespread outbreak in the U.S. of a rare form of meningitis. All four of the new cases are in the state of Tennessee, which has the most confirmed cases overall.
A tainted medication that's used to treat back pain is apparently to blame, with over two dozen states reporting cases. At least five people have died so far because of outbreak, all of those confirmed to be people who received routine injections. It's now raising questions about drug safety in the U.S.
