Sen. Ayotte and Gov. O'Malley Spar in Fox News Sunday Debate
The Romney campaign was re-energized by the first presidential debate, while President Obama enjoyed a boost from the new jobs report that showed a drop in the unemployment rate. Democratic Governor Martin O’Malley (MD) and Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte (NH) debated each other on Fox News Sunday.
While the new jobs report shows a drop in unemployment to 7.8 percent, the lowest since President Obama took office, Sen. Ayotte says it is disappointing. She said the downtick in unemployment is due to people who have had to take part-time jobs.
Gov. O’Malley said no one should be satisfied or happy about the unemployment rate, but
he added, “What we’ve seen now is 31 months in a row … of private sector job gains. So it is better to be gaining jobs than to be losing 800,000 a month as we were when George Bush was in office.”
