Beckel: Joe Biden Is Going to Beat Paul Ryan 'Like an Empty Drum'
We're two days away from the highly anticipated Vice Presidential Debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan.
Bob Beckel and Andrea Tantaros, co-hosts of The Five , talked with Bill Hemmer this morning about what to expect on Thursday night in Kentucky, and whether Mitt Romney's strong performance last week
has swung the race in his favor.
Beckel had a bold prediction for the veep showdown, proclaiming that Joe Biden will "beat (Paul Ryan) like an empty drum." He also said that the effect of last week's debate has been overblown and the momentum for Romney will fade.
Tantaros argued that Romney's debate performance has sparked new intensity among Republicans and improved his poll numbers among independents. She said Thursday night's debate is critical for the race, but expressed confidence in Ryan's ability to back up his positions.
"Ryan is such an expert in explaining (the Romney/Ryan plan). And that's what Romney did so well last week. He explained his positions, finally, so well that when you're presented with facts, all the Obama campaign is left do is to throw mud and call him a liar," said Tantaros.
