Jay Carney Addresses Libya Hearing in Press Briefing: There's No Question That Something Went Wrong

In what was the first of its kind in the past two weeks, Jay Carney discussed the Libya hearing taking place on Capitol Hill in a press briefing today, maintaining that the administration's narrative of what happened in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on September 11 has stayed the same over the past month.

"Clearly we know more today than we did on the Sunday after the attack," he told reporters. He added that the point the administration has made all along has been that initial assessments were made on

the origin of the attack which formed the "foundation of what Amb. Rice" and others said in the following days. "[Rice] clearly said on Sunday that they were preliminary conclusions, conclusions by the intelligence community for the entire government."

Carney also defended President Obama's work to get to the bottom of the attack. "No one is more interested in finding out exactly what happened in Benghazi than the President of the United States," adding, however, "there is no question that when four Americans are killed at a diplomatic facility, that something went wrong."
