VP Debate Quote: Congressman Ryan -- Sanctions Against Iran Are in Place In Spite of the Obama Administration
In Thursday's vice presidential debate, Paul Ryan stressed the importance of preventing Iran from attaining nuclear weapons capability.
He claimed that when President Obama took office, Iran had enough nuclear material to make one bomb, and now they have enough for five. "They're racing toward a nuclear weapon," he said.
He accused the Obama administration of trying to block Congress' attempt to impose sanctions on Iran. He charged, "Only because we had strong bipartisan support for these tough sanctions were we able to overrule their objections and put them in spite of the administration."
