Man Who Hacked Into Pentagon, NASA Computers Will Not Face Trial in U.S.
A computer hacker who claims he discovered proof of extraterrestrial life after breaking into America’s top secret military networks will not face trial in the United States. Officials in the U.K. have concluded that if extradited, the British man would likely commit suicide.
46-year-old Gary McKinnon, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, admits that he hacked into the Pentagon and NASA computers but says he was just looking for evidence
of UFOs, which he claims he found. His mother Janis Sharp praised the ruling by the British government, calling it a “life-saving decision.”
The Department of Justice said in a statement that the U.S. is “disappointed” at the decision, but added, “Our extradition relationship with the U.K. remains strong as is demonstrated by the extradition of five alleged terrorists.”
