Sen. McCain: Responsibility For American Security Doesn't Lie With the Secretary of State, It Lies With the President
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has attempted to take some of the heat off of President Obama for the response to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Clinton said
she takes responsibility for the apparent lack of security prior to the terror attack that left four Americans dead.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) discussed the situation on America's Newsroom, saying no matter what Secy. Clinton says, the "buck stops" in the Oval Office. McCain argued that it's in Clinton's political interest to protect the president from criticism with just weeks remaining until Election Day.
He accused the Obama administration of being in "cover-up mode" since the attack, initially trying to blame it on protests over an anti-Islam video.
"It's either willful deception or a degree of incompetence and failure to understand fundamental facts on the ground. Either one of those is obviously totally unacceptable. There's failures (by the administration) all over the Middle East," said McCain.
