Talking Points Memo: What If Your Candidate Loses?

On the eve of Election Day, Bill O’Reilly admits that he cannot make a prediction about tomorrow’s vote. He told viewers on The O’Reilly Factor tonight, “You know me, I’m a big mouth, but I really don’t know what’s going to happen.”

O’Reilly was willing to make some predictions regarding key battleground states. He thinks Mitt Romney will win Florida, and if the governor wins Ohio as well, then he will be the next president of the United States. According to a Rasmussen survey, Obama and Romney are in a dead heat in Ohio.

During his Talking Points Memo, O’Reilly said, “If President Obama loses the election it will be because

he could not convince Americans that his big government philosophy would improve the economy.”

The Factor host surmised that voters who are deciding solely on the economy will vote against President Obama. Whereas if Romney loses, O’Reilly said it will be because he did not get his message out.

O’Reilly reflected on the remaining days of campaigning, saying, “Both the president and the governor will do interviews this evening on Monday Night Football. But so what? Those are cupcake events; they mean absolutely nothing. It’s kind of sad that both candidates dodged forums that might have challenged them. Americans respect politicians who do answer the tough questions.”

Voting for either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney will be a vote on hope, said O’Reilly. However, a vote for Obama will not be based on his accomplishments. O’Reilly added that while Talking Points does not endorse any particular candidate, Romney’s “philosophy of robust capitalism seems to make a bit more sense.”
