Timing of Petraeus Announcement Raises Eyebrows

In an announcement that stunned Washington, D.C. General David Petraeus announced his resignation as Director of the CIA earlier today. Petraeus cited personal reasons for the resignation, particularly an extramarital affair. The timing of the announcement has raised some eyebrows though, as Petraeus was scheduled to testify on the Benghazi attack next week.

The Five discussed Petraeus’ resignation, with Andrea Tantaros saying that according to a source, Petraeus is adamant that the move had nothing to do with Libya.

Dana Perino admitted that when she first heard the news, she cried a little out of sadness for Petraeus and his wife, Holly. Perino said that “when you are the CIA director […] there are consequences for having extramarital affairs.” She then acknowledged, “It does legitimately raise some eyebrows on the timing.”

Greg Gutfeld also weighed in, saying, “I do believe in coincidences; this is a little strange.”
