Helping Heroes Work: Fox News Launches New Awareness Campaign

‘You’re hired!’ There is no greater way for a business to say thank you to our courageous servicemen and women than providing them with a job. Now, Fox News has created a new site, with a new mission, just in time for Veterans Day. The site? Helping Heroes Work. The mission? Raise awareness for the responsibility we all share in helping our returning veterans begin this next critical phase in their lives.

Each year more than 220,000 highly skilled professionals leave the military and transition to work in the private sector. Here’s what they can bring to America's businesses.

Education: Many veterans have completed intensive schooling in advanced technology, logistics and management. Over 95% of military officers have baccalaureate degrees, and 35% have earned a Masters degree or higher. Even better, they’ve put all that education to work in the real world, often in the most challenging conditions.

Skills: Servicemen and women who have deployed overseas often speak more than one language. They have been trained to work with diverse groups of people, and they know how to work with limited resources and under tight deadlines. Over 70% of vets report that their military skills prepared them to successfully execute projects in the professional world.

Character: Leadership is part of U.S. military training from day one. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are taught how to be “sophisticated team-builders and natural team-players.” Decisiveness, problem solving, resourcefulness — these are all part of the U.S. military’s DNA.

If you’re looking to hire people that bring something extra to the table, workers with hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of advanced training, people who can get things done in difficult circumstances; then look to a veteran. They’re the pride of our country, and bring unmatched pride to their work. Now, they’re ready to do their best for you.

Head to Helping Heroes Work to learn more about how YOU can get involved.
