Fmr. CIA Operative Mike Baker: The Idea That the FBI Was Investigating Petraeus for Months and Didn’t Tell Justice Department or White House "Defies Belief"
Questions continue to arise following General Petraeus’ abrupt resignation as director of the CIA. Many lawmakers are now asking when the FBI uncovered details of his extramarital affair and whether the nation’s security was ever compromised.
Former CIA Operative Mike Baker joined Happening Now to comment on the revelations, and to talk about which agency knew what and when. According to Baker, the idea that the FBI conducted an investigation for months, and apparently wrapped it up around the 21st or 22nd of October, yet didn’t tell the Justice Department or the White House “kind of defies belief.”
“Washington is a culture where you cover your backside,” Baker said. He argued that the FBI would have reported it as soon as the Petraeus connection was uncovered because of the significant national security risk.
