Live Report: Israeli Army Fires "Direct Hit" Into Syria

The Israeli army fired into neighboring Syria for what is now the second time in two days, after a Syrian mortar shell landed in an Israeli base in Golan Heights, raising fears that the Syrian civil war could be spiraling into a bigger conflict.

Fox News correspondent Leland Vittert reported from the ground in Golan Heights, saying that as of sunset, things had calmed down ... but that wasn't the case earlier when heavy machine gun and artillery fire was heard.

Vittert said on the first day, Israelis responded with a warning shot after Syrian fire crossed the border, then today responded with a "direct hit" on Syrian artillery. Now, the Israeli military has moved into a "high alert" status, saying they're most worried about a refugee crisis of people crossing the border from Syria, as well as jihadists bringing weapons into Israel and trying to carry out an attack within its borders.
