Andy Card on Report That Sen. Kerry Is Being Considered for Secretary of Defense: He Wouldn’t Be My Choice, But President Obama Deserves the Benefit of the Doubt
Andy Card, former White House chief of staff under President George W. Bush, joined America Live to discuss rumors about who is being pegged to fill President Obama’s cabinet in his second term. There are new reports today that Senator John Kerry is being considered for the position of Secretary of Defense.
Kerry wouldn’t be Card’s choice for the role. He said, “I don’t think his training even in the Senate would lend itself to that kind of credential. I think that he was more in the foreign service, foreign diplomacy side of things rather than the Armed Services side of the United States Senate.”
With that said, Card believes “the president deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to what people he wants to serve in his cabinet or in his immediate staff at the White House.”
