UPDATE: Gen. John Allen Now Entwined in Latest Twists in Petraeus Sex Scandal
The sex scandal involving Gen. David Petraeus and his mistress Paula Broadwell continues to unravel today, with the investigation now widening to include possibly inappropriate emails sent between the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John R. Allen, and Jill Kelley; Kelley is the woman whose emails originally led to the investigation and resignation of Petraeus.
Kelley, who is described as an unpaid social
liaison for the military in Tampa, Fla., alleged that Gen. Allen sent a potential of 20,000 to 30,000 pages of what sources are calling "flirtatious" emails, while the general contends the messages were "non-sexual" in nature. Kelley notified a friend in the FBI after she alleged she was receiving harassing emails from Broadwell. The investigation that followed revealed the affair that led to Petraeus issuing his resignation late last week.
But just when you thought the twists and turns might be coming to an end ... think again. Fox News' Catherine Herridge reports that the FBI agent who originally took Kelley's complaint to the cyber crimes unit was barred from participating in the current investigation because he allegedly sent Kelley shirtless photos of himself; he's now the subject of a personnel investigation at the bureau.
