Is the ‘Fiscal Cliff’ This Year's Scrooge?
We’ve been hearing a lot about the fiscal cliff, but what exactly does it mean? Today’s Bulls & Bears guests went head-to-head over the growing fears and whether consumers really need to be concerned. Gary Kaltbaum warned that during the holiday season, the problem is “uncertainty.” With higher taxes and less money in the economy, retailers will not see the results they’re hoping for this time of year.
Gary B. Smith said it’s not the “fiscal cliff” itself, but rather the perception
that it sounds terrible. He says that the more people hear about this fiscal cliff, the less inclined they’ll be to spend.
