Bill O'Reilly Slams the Liberal Media for Skewing His 'Traditional America' Commentary

One of the bad things about America, according to Bill O’Reilly, is that some people feel the need to kick people when they’re down. That’s exactly what the Factor host says is happening to Mitt Romney right now.

During his Talking Points Memo, O’Reilly said, “Millions of Americans are very disappointed that the governor did not wage a more aggressive campaign to unseat President Obama.”

On Election Day, O’Reilly said on Fox News Channel that the demographics are changing

and there is no longer a traditional America. Some people were outraged that O’Reilly called out 50 percent of Americans for wanting “stuff” and for saying that they voted for President Obama because he would give them more entitlements.

About a week later, Mitt Romney reiterated the same sentiment in a conference call with his donors. He said that the president campaigned on giving certain members of his base financial gifts from the government in order to garner their votes.

O’Reilly outlined statistics that prove both his and Romney’s point. “The left is going to scream when you say that because they don’t want to acknowledge the economics of the vote,” O’Reilly continued, “So when I told you the truth on election night, I was immediately branded a racist and worse.”

The Washington Post editorialized, “A couple of hours before President Obama was declared the victor, Bill O’Reilly offered his explanation for why Mitt Romney was about to lose. […] ‘Because it’s a changing country, […] it’s not a traditional America anymore.’ […] In case anyone might be confused about the meaning of ‘traditional,’ he elaborated: ‘The white establishment is now the minority.’ In other words, the problem was too many voters of color.”

To those who branded O’Reilly as a racist for his commentary, he responded, “How vile. In other words, you pinheads have no right to lie about me by putting fabricated words in my mouth. That’s not what I said. You disgrace the journalism industry. You seek to demonize anyone who disagrees with your far-left view. Am I being clear enough? The white establishment no longer dominates the political field in America. That is crystal clear. I don’t lament that, I’m not pining for a return to Calvin Coolidge. I just reported it.”
