Sen. Kelly Ayotte "More Troubled" After Meeting With Amb. Susan Rice on Benghazi Attack
Earlier today, Republican Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte met with Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. The meeting was held in order to gain clarity on the September 11th attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya and the U.S. government’s response to it in the weeks after. Sen. Ayotte said immediately after the meeting in a press conference that she was more troubled today after having met with Amb. Rice and the acting director of the CIA, Michael Morell.
Sen. Ayotte spoke to Megyn Kelly on America Live to provide more details on their meeting. She explained that she has renewed concerns because Amb. Rice
and Morell said the story about the anti-Islamic video and the protests was wrong. “In fact, the acting director of the CIA said by the 22nd of September they had absolutely confirmed that that was wrong.”
The issue then becomes, why did Amb. Rice appear on the major networks and tout that story as the cause of the attack and why didn’t she come forward sooner to admit she was wrong? Sen. Ayotte said she didn’t receive a satisfactory answer from Amb. Rice on those questions. She is also hoping for more answers on who changed the CIA talking points to omit the reference to Al Qaeda.
