Trial Begins for AZ Woman Claiming Self-Defense After Being Charged With Shooting Boyfriend and Stabbing Him 27 Times
A woman charged in the shooting and stabbing death of her boyfriend is set for trial. Jodi Arias could become the fourth female on Arizona's death row if she is convicted in the June 2008 killing of her then-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.
Opening statements were made in the case on Wednesday, a case in which authorities say 32-year-old Arias shot Alexander in the face while he was in the shower, stabbed him 27 times and slit his throat before leaving him in a shower in his Mesa home.
Arias has changed her story multiple times, initially claiming she had nothing to do with the murder, then telling cops she was in the home but not involved in the incident, then finally admitting
she killed Alexander out of self-defense.
