Bill O'Reilly: The Journal News Violated Your Right to Privacy

During tonight’s Talking Points Memo, Bill O’Reilly tackled the violation of your privacy by the press. The Journal News has come under fire for printing the names and addresses of legal gun permit owners in Westchester and Rockland Counties in New York.

Law enforcement officials from Rockland County have spoken out about threats resulting from the paper’s indiscretion. Sheriff Louis Falco said in a press conference, “I’ve been in a meeting with my correction officers and their unions. They have inmates coming up to them

and then telling them exactly where they live. That’s not acceptable to me.”

Prison guards are trained to protect themselves, but many civilians are not.

Putnam County clerk, Dennis Sant told a story about a woman who had been stalked in Westchester County. She hadn’t heard anything from the stalker for years. Just two days after The Journal News published her information, she began receiving repeated calls from a person who would hang up.

O’Reilly noted that The Journal News runs on a left-wing ideology. While it violated the privacy of law-abiding Americans, he says it’s unacceptable for anyone to issue death threats or publish personal information about those who work for the newspaper. “You will not win any debate by lowering yourself to a morally wrong position,” he argued.
