Gabby Giffords and Husband Mark Kelly Launch Gun Control Campaign on Anniversary of Tuscon Shooting
Former Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly have launched a campaign to curve gun violence. Today marks two years since Giffords was shot in Tuscon, Arizona. Six people were killed in that shooting and 12 were injured, including the congresswoman.
Giffords and Kelly visited Newtown, Connecticut after the school shooting. They spoke to Diane Sawyer on ABC News about the experience. Kelly said, “You hope that that kind of thing doesn’t happen again. But you know what, it does happen again.”
They both are gun owners
and supporters of the Second Amendment, but Kelly told Sawyer, “We’ve got to do something to keep the guns from getting into the wrong hands.”
