Critics Call Out Obama Over Cabinet Picks: 'Where Are the Women, Where Are the Minorities?'

Remember when Mitt Romney was called out for his "binders full of women" comment during a presidential debate?

Well now President Obama is under fire from his own supporters, who are demanding to know why his cabinet picks to this point have included zero women.

The president has nominated four white males to fill cabinet spots: Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary, John Brennan for CIA Director, John Kerry for Secretary of State and Jack Lew for Treasury Secretary. There are at least three women headed out of the Obama cabinet as well; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, and EPA Director Lisa Jackson.

Yesterday, Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) called it "embarrassing as hell" that Obama is facing criticism for a lack of diversity in his inner circle.

Martha MacCallum discussed the issue this morning with Fox News contributor Juan Williams and Mary Katharine Ham, editor-at-large of Hotair.com.

Williams pointed out the widely circulated photo (above) that shows Obama meeting with an all-male group of advisers in the Oval Office. Williams said Rangel "is right," even though there is a significant number of women and minorities serving in the entire Obama administration.

"That picture of senior staffers. Remember that these are the people that are the closest and have the most access to the president. It's an exclusively male club, and I think except for Rob Nabors who's the legislative guy, all white," said Williams, who pointed out "a lack of diversity in terms of people who come from anything but that 'Harvard guy' background."

Ham joked that President Obama may want to call Mitt Romney and have him send some "binders full of women" over to the White House.

"Let's be clear, he ran on this to a great extent. His presidency was to prevent an alleged all white male cabinet, which of course would not have been the case with Romney, but that was sort of the implication, and then you're getting all of these folks' names," said Ham.
