WATCH: George Stephanopoulos and Bill O'Reilly Go Back and Forth Over Gun Control

Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw recently compared gun control to the Civil Rights Movement. Tonight on The O’Reilly Factor, “Good Morning America” anchor George Stephanopoulos said, “It’s not the analogy I would use but I think what he was talking about there was the kind of passion that people feel.”

Bill O’Reilly commented, “I think this is a battle between the elites, Brokaw, and the folks. And the folks know that all these bans don’t work. Chicago has a ban on handguns and it’s Beirut there.”

Stephanopoulos worked for President Bill Clinton when an assault weapons ban was first put in place. He questioned O’Reilly’s stance that states need to choose

their own gun laws, and the way to prevent guns from crossing borders is by the feds having Draconian penalties in place. He wondered, “How are you going to be able to track that?”

O’Reilly said, “When you bust them. When there’s a criminal that uses a gun, you trace it back to where it came from.”

Stephanopoulos said, “Do you need 30 bullets in a clip to protect yourself?” O’Reilly responded, “No, you don’t. You don’t. And if New York wants to ban that, I’m for it. But not Texas, they do what they want – different state, different circumstances.”
