Rep. Dana Rohrabacher to Clinton: 'Everybody Has Their Own CYA To Do'

At this afternoon's House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Benghazi, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) took issue with the notion that budget constraints played a role in the State Department's lack of security at the consulate.

"Assistant Secretary of State (Charlene) Lamb testified here in Congress that budget considerations played absolutely no role in her decision, it was her decision, not yours. You approved it, but her decision as to what the level of security would be there at Benghazi, and any suggestion that this is a budget issue is off base or political," said Rohrabacher.

Clinton objected, saying

the ARB report later concluded that "budget issues were at stake."

But Rohrabacher dismissed her explanation, saying "everybody has their own CYA to do here."

Clinton testified earlier today before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Lawmakers are investigating the Sept. 11 terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans.
