Judge Napolitano on Women in Combat: I'm Thrilled That People Won't Be Judged Because of Groups They Belong to Based on Consequence of Birth
Along with panel members Kirsten Powers and Charles Krauthammer, Judge Andrew Napolitano reacted to the announcement made Thursday that women will be allowed to serve in combat roles in the United States Military.
Napolitano said that although he's "someone who rarely agrees with these guys," this decision was an exception to the rule. "I am absolutely thrilled by this," he began. "This is a collectivist president who's deciding that people should be judged as individuals and not as members of groups ... [he's] willing to say that the old military prejudices against blacks, against gays and now against women, [...] that were stereotypical, not founded in facts, often founded in ignorance, bias and prejudice are now history.
Each person in the military will be judged for combat, leadership and command based on their skills and ability - not some group they are a member of based on the consequence of birth."
