Veteran Brendan Marrocco Undergoes Double-Arm Transplant After Losing All Four Limbs in Iraq
Jennifer Griffin reported this morning on a remarkable surgery performed on a quadruple amputee who was severely injured in the Iraq war. Brendan Marrocco, 26, of Staten Island, New York, was the first soldier to survive losing all four limbs in Iraq after a roadside bombing in 2009.
His doctors at Johns Hopkins University are now revealing the results of the Dec. 18 surgery, which was only the seventh double-arm or double-hand transplant performed in the United States.
