WATCH: Geraldo Rivera Discusses Possible U.S. Senate Run in New Jersey
Yesterday, Geraldo Rivera created a bit of a stir in the political world by saying he is considering running for U.S. Senate in his home state of New Jersey. The Republican would be up against either Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) or Newark Mayor Cory Booker if he goes forward with the campaign and secures the GOP nomination.
Rivera stopped by Fox and Friends this morning to discuss his plans, conceding that if he does run, he would face a tough battle in the traditionally blue state. Rivera then talked a little about what his platform would look like.
"I very well may (run). ... Remember,
I believe in immigration reform, I believe in gay rights and gay marriage, I believe in choice - not obscenely but I believe in Roe v. Wade. So you have to take my fiscal positions on being a Republican who believes that we have to bail out future generations rather than indebt future generations with some of these social policies that aren't in sync with much of traditional GOP politics," said Rivera.
