Sean Hannity on DOJ Drone Memo: 'If Bush Attempted This Policy, Democrats Would've Called for His Impeachment'

According to a memo obtained by NBC News, officials inside the Department of Justice have drafted a document saying the president has the legal authority to use unmanned drones to kill American citizens overseas who are suspected of terrorist activities.

Sean Hannity reacted to the news, reiterating, “The administration actually believes they have the legal authority to target American citizens.”

A group of Democratic and Republican senators

sent a letter to President Obama demanding answers. They wrote that Congress and the American people need to have a “full understanding of how the executive branch interprets the limits and boundaries of this authority, so that Congress and the public can decide whether the president’s power to deliberately kill American citizens is subject to appropriate limitations and safeguards.”

President Obama has stated several times during his first term that his administration does not torture and abides by the Geneva Conventions. Hannity said, “Let’s put this story into context because we cannot forget how President Bush, he was eviscerated over enhanced interrogation techniques.”

  • “We don’t torture terrorists, we just kill them,” Hannity commented. “Obama has gone light-years beyond what the Bush administration did. And by the way, if Bush ever attempted this narrative, these policies, I’m telling you, Democrats would’ve been calling for Bush’s impeachment.”

The Fox News host went on to say, “I’ve observed politics for a long time, but in terms of the sheer depth and breadth of hypocrisy with this story and the actions by Obama and his minions in the press and the Democratic Party, this is about the hardest story to beat.”
