Could Cardinal Timothy Dolan Be the Next Pope?
As lists are undoubtedly compiled as to who will be considered to replace Pope Benedict following the Monday announcement of his resignation, one individual in the running could
be New York's own Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
On this morning's America's Newsroom, John Moody - former Time Magazine Vatican Bureau Chief - told Martha MacCallum that Dolan will certainly be involved in any conversation about Pope Benedict's pending replacement.
"The Roman Catholic church has internationalized itself, and it can't go back to being a little Italian conclave anymore," he said, referring to Dolan's American nationality. "Cardinal Dolan has to be in any serious consideration, any serious talk about who might be next ... [but] being an American is not an immediate advantage when you're in the conclave to be pope."
